Lone Black Wolf

Dream
Hi Ian
I am sitting at a kitchen table in the middle of some dark woods. A lone black wolf is watching me from the trees and it looks like he wants me to follow him somewhere. I am scared of the wolf but he doesn’t seem aggressive so I get up from the table and start following him deep into the forest. He disappears from sight now and again and that makes me anxious but he always reappears and reassures me. Sometimes it seems as the tree trunks have faces as I stumble over the tree roots.
Thanks, Eddi

Meaning
Dreaming of sitting at a kitchen table indicates that you are thinking about your family and how you habitually relate to them. The dark woods suggest that you are experiencing some difficulties with  family members and you are unsure of the best way to deal with this. Although you are directly affected by these family tensions, you are just sitting tight in the hope that they will fade away.

Even though you are trying to remain loyal to your family, the appearance of the lone black wolf shows that you have been ignoring your own needs during this challenging time. The wolf represents your own independence and authority and the only way to claim this is to step back from your family situation and begin to explore your own power.

As you start to explore your own needs in more depth, you feel anxious now and again. However, your growing wisdom is becoming apparent and reassures you that you are on the right track. You sometimes feel that your progress is being hampered by your family roots but you manage to remain true to the path you have chosen. Your growing independence helps you to resolve your family tensions.

Mafia Mix Up

Dream
Hi Ian
I have this dream where I am being chased by this armed Mafia gang. They are waving shotguns at me and I know that they also have concealed knives in their chest pockets. They chase me into a cul de sac full of derelict shops and tell me that I have to join them or they will kill me. However, they keep calling me Agnes and I keep saying that this is a mix up and they have got the wrong person.
Cheers, Nadzirah

Meaning
Dreaming of being chased indicates that there is some situation in your waking life where you feel under a lot of pressure to take some action or commit to a particular decision. Being pursued by an armed gang from the Mafia implies that this involves members of your family and you feel that they are trying to force you into making a decision.

The guns suggest that these family members are male and that they are being quite aggressive towards you. The concealed knives show that they are trying to convince you that they have your best interests at heart but you are worried that their actions will wound you emotionally. The decision they are forcing you to take is about committing to a particular job or profession.

However, you feel that the career path that they want you to take is a professional dead end. The derelict shops symbolise outdated values and beliefs and you can see nothing in this career that will make you feel needed or valuable. The fact that your pursuers are calling you Agnes shows that they do not understand you as an individual and show no real interest in what you want from life.

Mansion of Expansion

Dream
Hi Ian
I have been having this dream where I am living in a tiny gloomy boxroom. My bed and all my stuff is in there and feels really cramped and crammed. I hear someone knocking at the door and I am really frightened to open it. Whoever is knocking at the door really starts pushing at it and it starts to shake and shine brightly. I pluck up courage and open the door and am amazed to see that I am standing inside a huge mansion and it’s expanding out in front of me. Even more amazing is the fact that I know that I own the mansion. What does this mean?
Thanks, Kayla

Meaning
Dreaming of a small boxroom suggests that you are in a situation in waking life where you are feeling a bit boxed in. It may seem as if your potential opportunities for happiness are limited and this is making you feel gloomy. This is probably the result of a recent disappointment in a romantic relationship that has caused you to retreat from the outside world.

Although you may think that your choices seem limited and are cramping your style, there is a major opportunity for happiness knocking at your door. However, you are frightened to open yourself up to this new possibility because of your recent experiences. Even though you try to ignore this opportunity, it won’t go away and you realise that you really need to shake things up and allow yourself to shine again.

The door symbolises a threshold of confidence that you need to reach but you are frightened to make yourself vulnerable in case you are hurt again. When you do pluck up the courage and step out of your comfort zone, you are amazed at the possibilities. The more you open up to your future, the more you can step into it and own it.

Sheer Effort

Hi Ian,
I was trying to climb a sheer rock face and there were people following me I was scared as the rocks kept crumbling but I did manage to get to the top and I kept shouting encouragement to those behind me. When I got to the top there was only enough space for me to crawl on my belly between the top of this mountain and the sky -  it was like I had reached the sky’s ceiling.
Sue

Dream Meaning
Climbing a sheer rock face in a dream reflects the fact that you are engaged in some arduous task in waking life. This task feels like a constant uphill struggle and you are only making progress through sheer effort. The people who are following you represent colleagues who you lead and inspire in your waking life. The crumbling rocks show that you feel anxious and insecure about what you are doing but you are courageous enough to keep pushing on.

Reaching the top indicates that you are succeeding in your plans and turning them into reality. You are keen to demonstrate your achievements to others so that they will be encouraged to follow your lead. The sky often symbolises the airy space of thoughts and ideas and the ground is a symbol of the hard facts or practicality.

You are just scraping through between them and this suggests that you are just managing to turn your ideas into reality and that you feel right on the limit of what is theoretically possible. Although you are crawling on your belly, this shows that you are using your gut feeling and the best way forward is by listening to your instincts.

Ship Shop

Dream
Hi Ian
I keep dreaming of a huge white ship- an ocean liner that is enormous. In its middle is a whole floor dedicated to shops and it looks like a mall with open-fronted stores. There is something that I am looking for in the shops but I don’t know what it is. I am worried that I will not have enough money to pay for this purchase when I eventually find it. I am also worried that we might hit an iceberg before I find the right thing.
Thanks
Naziyah

Meaning
Ships often symbolise how we navigate the uncharted waters of our feelings and emotions. A huge white ocean liner suggests that you are currently thinking a lot about getting married and the enormous emotional commitments that it appears to involve. Dreaming of looking for something in the shops indicates that you feel that something is missing from your life and this probably your desire to be in a happy and committed marriage.

When you dream about not being able to pay for a purchase, this suggests that you have concerns about your self worth and how much other people really value you in your waking life. This is  because you do not value yourself enough, and you often give your time and your talents too freely to other people with no recognition of your true value.
The iceberg represents particular traditions that seem quite simple and straightforward on the surface. However, these customs usually also involve hidden agendas that can be quite damaging and cause unnecessary suffering. You are worried that you will end up in an unhappy marriage before you have had the chance to find a man who will really love you and also value and respect you.

Stomach Staples

Dream
Hello Ian
I just had a dream where there were lots of staples or clamps holding my skin together, all over my body, especially in my tummy area. I tried to remove them carefully to avoid any pain, but then realised they were holding together large wounds in my body, and if I removed them my insides would become exposed for everyone to see. In real life, I am only a size 8 and do not need my stomach stapling!
Thanks, Ciara

Meaning
When you dream of your skin, you are thinking about the boundary between your innermost feelings and the image that you present to others in the outside world. If you are thick skinned, you can take a lot of criticism and abuse from others without it affecting your feelings too much.

However, if you are feeling quite thin skinned, then it can be very easy for you to be wounded by the apparently thoughtless words and actions of other people. When this happens, you try to stop yourself falling apart by clamping down on how you show your true feelings to others. Even though you try and cover up your old wounds, they can still feel quite hurtful for you, so you carefully try to resolve any tensions as painlessly as possible.

Your sensitivity can make you feel vulnerable to being wounded by others but your gut instinct is to be as open with your feelings as possible. Although showing everyone how you really feel can make you feel very exposed, it also means that you are very honest and sensitive to the needs of other people. This can seem like a weakness but others see it as your greatest strength.

Underwater Horse

Dream
Hello Ian
I am having a recurrent dream about a white horse standing on layers of rock under water. The horse is standing on its back legs, rearing up as if to get attention. I am afraid the horse will drown so I pick up a child’s spade from the beach and start digging a hole in the water to get some air to the horse. The horse then jumps up the hole that I have created and I throw my arms around its neck. What does this mean?

Meaning
When you dream about a white horse, you are starting to become aware of the power of your own wisdom. This has probably been triggered by an emotional situation in your waking life that is bringing your wise judgment to the attention of others. You have accumulated a wealth of experience over a number of years but what you have learned seems to have sunk deep into your unconscious. You would like to use this powerful intuition but cannot think of an obvious way to harness it.

You often use your experience in quite an analytical manner and are concerned that your logical approach will be overwhelmed by the feelings involved in the current situation. You begin to look for ways to bring a breath of fresh air to these emotionally fraught circumstances. The child’s spade represents an innocent but practical approach where you dig down to the fundamental issues.

By opening up to your instincts and saying what you really feel, your unconscious insights really start to leap out at you. The horse’s neck symbolises the strong connection between your rational head and your emotional heart and as you embrace this power, your wisdom is apparent for all to see.
