Being A Professional Athlete

Sometimes dreams of being a professional athlete such as a footballer are celebrity dreams, but more often they are coming of age dreams in which the dreamer is dealing with internal conflict in a maturing and successful manner.

The dream reflects their acceptance into a wider society where in order to have their skills and talents recognised, they will have to work as part of a team, and this will help them to ultimately achieve their goals.

Death and Dying

Dreams about death and dying can often be upsetting and can cause us to feel anxious and fearful when we wake from them. However dreams about dying are very rarely about an actual death. Instead, they are reflections of fundamental transformations that are taking place in our waking lives.

When we dream of death we are reflecting on something significant coming to a natural end in our waking life. This can signify a major change such as leaving an old job that we have grown out of for the challenges and opportunities of a new one.

A death dream may also suggest to us that it is time to move on and do something different, as our current situation is a dead end and we need to bring our dreams and aspirations back to life.

As we explore and resolve dreams about death and dying in our waking lives, we often begin to have dreams about pregnancy, new births and exuberant children. In these dreams we rejoicing that we have left an old life behind in order to welcome and embrace the new.

Falling

Dreams of falling usually reflect a feeling of loss of control, and are usually the result of stress that cannot be adequately resolved in the dreamer’s waking life.

It usually signifies a particular stressful episode, rather than a chronic anxiety.  During this episode, the dreamer may feel stretched to the limit in waking life, and may either need to consciously relax or relinquish some of their commitments.

The feeling of falling often occurs as the dreamer ‘falls’ asleep.  This sensation is associated physiologically with accumulated stress tension being released from the large muscle groups.

Dream Message
You should consider your workload and obligations, and reflect on your work and life balance.  It can be difficult to achieve this perspective in a stressful situation, so the dream is a powerful and healthy reminder for you to consciously relax and look after your wellbeing until the stressful period passes.

Falling In Love

We all long for a lover with whom we can share the most intimate and unique experiences of our lives.

Often, we dream we are falling in love when we begin to become aware of previously unknown aspects of ourselves, and are starting to realise how unique we are.

This can be triggered when we are about to fall in love with a potential lover in our waking life, or in an existing relationship, where inadequate love is being received and our uniqueness seems to be ignored.

Familiar Dreams

Although we are all uniquely individual and each have our own unique dream vocabularies, we often have dreams that are familiar to us all. It may be that our own childhood houses were different in waking life, but when we dream about our childhood houses they often have a similar significance for all of us.

The content of familiar dreams mirrors the collective awareness that we all experience in our daily activities as we travel through life.

Our familiar dreams reflect the universal opportunities and challenges that we encounter in our waking lives. As we explore them we can find specific answers to universal questions such as ‘Who really am I?’, ‘Where do I need to go in life?’ and ‘How will I get there?’.

It can be tempting to think that the answers to these deeper questions are the same for all of us, but in the same way that our familiar dreams have specific messages for all of us, each of us needs to delve into the familiar to find our own individual truths.

Getting Married Or Divorced

As we mature, we become aware of new aspects of ourselves, and may outgrow our previous habits and beliefs.

A dream of marriage can suggest a commitment to these evolving aspects of the self, and the wish to formally honour them in waking life.

A dream of divorce can indicate the dreamer has consciously decided to relinquish parts of their lives that they feel are no longer healthy or sustainable.

Inability to Speak

In this dream we are often desperately trying to say something, but no words come out no matter how much we attempt to shout and scream. We might also find that we have something stuffed in our mouth like a gag, or that our mouth is filled with seemingly endless qualities of chewing gum or sticky food.

Our inability to speak in this dream mirrors an unresolved tension in our waking lives where we really want to say what’s on our mind and to speak and be heard. However, despite all our efforts to do this, we just cannot make our voices heard.

To resolve this dream we need to consider the situations in waking life where we feel ignored or have no way to make our individual opinions heard. We should look at different ways of communicating and the way that we routinely use words and phrases.

If we dream of our mouth packed with chewing gum, we may feel that we have bitten off more than we can chew in waking life. In this case we need to consider our priorities so we can end this sticky situation and move on.

Living In A Bigger House

In this dream, the dreamer is walking through their own home when they discover a room or rooms that they were previously unaware of, or if they had once been aware of it, they had since forgotten about it.

The room often contains some wonderful contents, and the dreamer realises that these items are actually their own possessions.

When we dream, the house often represents the self, and the number of rooms in the house can reflect the extent of the dreamer’s self awareness.

As we explore these new rooms we begin to reconnect with parts of ourselves, and rediscover talents and goals we may have forgotten about.

Dream Message
This dream suggests that the dreamer has valuable talents and knowledge that they are unconsciously aware of, but not exploring in their waking life.

Searching

When we dream of searching for something, we are looking for the answer to an unresolved question in our waking lives. That unanswered question is usually mirrored by what we are searching for in our dream.

If we dream about searching for our car, then we have lost our drive and ambition in waking life and are looking for ways to recover it and continue on our journey. If we are looking for our shoes, we are considering our values and where we stand in a certain situation. If we are looking for our purse our wallet, then we are reflecting on our value to others as we may feel that we have lost some self esteem in waking life.

When we search for other people in our dreams, we are trying to reconnect with aspects of our own identities that we have lost touch with. Searching for a child suggests that we need to regain our sense of wonder and spontaneity. Looking for a lost lover often indicates loss of intimacy and connection.

Our dream searches reflect the deeper questions that we ask ourselves in waking life and we can often find fulfilling answers to those questions by exploring our dreams.

Starring In A Movie

Celebrities are our contemporary gods and goddesses, and we use them in our dreams to represent the more divine and powerful parts of ourselves.

When we dream of starring in a movie, we are becoming aware of our more blissful and mystical aspects, and feel ready to display them to the world in waking life.

We often have this dream when we have achieved, or are about to achieve, something that defines our uniqueness.
