Media and PR

Although Ian has a solid academic grounding in the psychology of dreaming, his view is that any work involving dreams should reflect the experience of a dream; it should be informative and exciting. Rather than conform to an academic stereotype, Ian relishes the challenge of spontaneously analysing new dreams.

He compares his approach to that of an improvising musician, and says that ‘Once you have the ear for the dream, then you can really be in tune with your client. However, to be a great improviser, you have to to be aware of a lot of theory, and ground yourself in it. You have to keep practising your skills’.

Ian takes huge pleasure in using his talents and experiences with a variety of audiences, from corporate gatherings to performing as a dream busker with passers by in the street.

Radio

Ian immensely enjoys the challenges of dream analysis on live radio. Authentically connecting with the caller often has to be performed under great time pressure, and there is only one chance for an accurate and spontaneous analysis.

However, Ian consistently provides resonant and insightful dream interpretations within 90 seconds to two minutes, and is a master of asking the dreamer exactly the right questions to help evoke and articulate the dream.

Most callers are genuinely intrigued and often puzzled by what they have dreamt, and their usual motive for calling is primarily to solve the mystery of their dreams, as well as being entertained.
